Send a Letter Stop the Oil and Gas Lease Sale #FrackOffGreaterChaco #NoNewLeases

Tell the BLM to cancel their March lease sale and to work on a plan that protects New Mexico’s public health and safety, cultural resources, the environment, and includes meaningful tribal consultation.

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is gearing up for another lease sale of public and ancestral tribal lands in New Mexico.

Last December, we managed to deliver over 10,000 protest comments opposing the December 2018 lease sale. With your help, we can surpass this and elevate our voices opposing the BLM’s brazen moves to prioritize industry profit over protecting sacred lands, the environment, community health and safety, and much more.

BLM now requires that when using form letters people must identify themselves as a supporter of the associated non-profit. Another requirement is that the letters must include parcel numbers. You must add comments in your own words so that the BLM will count your objection.

IMPORTANT TIPS

  1. The BLM will not accept letters that are emailed. They must be delivered in person, by snail mail or through an organization who will print and hand deliver. We’ll be hand delivering them to the BLM on February 19th.
  2. Personalize this letter. The BLM does not count “form” letters, so please add a personal comment in the space provided.
  3. Include the parcel numbers for the land the BLM wants to lease (they are listed in the letter template).
  4. Include points of particular relevance when writing your comment letters. Key points and ideas are found HERE

Compose and personalize your letter online. We will print and hand deliver it on Feb. 20th.

NOTE: Your comment goes on the first page under your name and address. The second page just has the letter pre-filled with the required organization and parcel numbers. You do not need to type your comment again on the 2nd page.
